Tuturor ne plac darurile. Toti visam la cadouri intersante si dorim sa apara la usa noastra cutia cu tot felul de dorinte implinite. Dar ce te faci cu darurile care nu sosesc la timp sau cele impachetate altfel decat ne-am dori?
Timp de razboi. Al doilea razboi mondial. Aproape orfan – mama decedata intr-un accident de masina si tatal plecat pe front – Patrick sta in casa bunicului sau Ian. Cum e vreme de Craciun Patrick are o lista simpla a dorintelor sale: el in vrea pe tata inapoi si sa nu stea cu bunicul. Desemena mai vrea soldatul de lemn pe care bunicul il tine ascuns si de care nu are voie sa se atinga.
Un batran fara familie si un copil fara parinti sunt personajele care se conecteaza unul la altul invatand lectia apropierii familiale dincolo de asprimea vremurilor.
Bunicul este moracanos si pentru el nu-i nimic drept pe lume. Prezenta nepotului il deranjeaza, nefiind conectatat de multa vreme la familia fiului sau (tatal lui Patrick). Si in acest context este fortat sa aiba grija de nepotul sau pe care nu-l cunoaste bine.
Posibila disparitie a fiului sau il aduce pe Ian in situatia de a se comporta fata de micul Patrick si mai rau, nestiind cum sa-si controleze emotiile.
Cum se va raporta bunicul la situatia data?
Ce se va intampla cu Patrick daca tatal sau nu mai vine acasa?

Fiica mea vrea mai de mult un animalut ceva, sa se joace cu el. Am considerat mereu ca nu a sosit timpul pentru asa ceva(stiu, ce tata…). Prin titlu cartea mi-a adus aminte de cerinta ei si de faptul ca in timpul Craciunului primim uneori cele mai neasteptate daruri. Nu, nu-i o promisiune ascunsa aici…
The Christmas Dog se citeste foarte usor iar subeictul a fost pentru mine previzibil. Cu toate aceste am vrut sa o termin pentru a-mi finaliza infuzia unei atmosfere pe care nu o construim usor in jurul nostru in o alta perioada a anului. Cartea are in ea substanta unei povesti curate despre viata si intersectiile neasteptate a diferitelor varste.
Pe scurt: o vaduva singura care traieste cu un copil adult. Este invidioasa fata de viata celor din jur care se bucura de un alt mediu. Prezenta neasteptata a unei nepoate si a unui caine pe pragul casei sale ii schimba perspectiva de a vedea lucrurile.
Hmmm…e interesant ce pot provoca animalele in relatiile oamenilor. Betty-Jack-Avery- este triunghiul in care actiunea se misca. Plus Ralph – catelul – privit diferit de fiecare din aceasta realtie. O perspectiva noua asupra interconectarii sociale in timpul din an in care toata lumea este in jurul familiei. Unde au loc in acest context cei fara familie?

dupa ce am urmarit live online – departe de orice patima sau interes (personal) – discutia televizata dintre cei doi candidati la presedentia Romaniei, ma tot gandeam la expresia “vantul sufla incotro vrea…”(Ioan 3.8)
am zis “bate” pentru ca in felul acesta am rezolvat si cine a batut si dat in filme si istorii; cumva sufla Vantu’ la doua capete pentru o gura de aer? cumva intalnirea peste noapte cu dl. candidat ros-galben, albastru-verde, maro-violet, etc. a fost o comanda din partea cealalta? hmmm…ca prea ii plateste pe unii pentru a scrie si face gura impotriva sa.
putini stiu cine, unde mimeaza si cat…

m’asteptam la ceva cultura religioasa din partea moderatorului sau a candidatilor…pe Biblie nu se jura – cel putin daca consideri ce scrie in ea (Matei 5:35-37)
