Pastor, martir, profet, spion – Bonhoeffer

BonhoefferPerioada razboaielor mondiale prezinta raul desfasurandu-se in voie pe pamant.

Credinta in circumstante dificile; asta ma asteptam sa gasesc in cartea lui Eric Metaxas, care a se afla la a doua sa cartea biografica (prima fiind Amazing Grace: William Wilberforce and the Heroic Campaign to End Slavery).

Dumnezeu si-a avut mereu martorii lui in cele mai intunecate perioada istorice, in fiecare natiune.

The times of war shows the evil freely unfolding on earth. No doubt, Faceing with this avalanche of dark and evil is always interesting to understand how Christians behaved and lived their faith.
Faith in difficult circumstances that I expected to find in the book by Eric Metaxas, who was on his second biographical book (the first being Amazing Grace: William Wilberforce and the heroic Campaign to End Slavery).
Combining dates from interviews, letters, documents that are related to one of the most important figures of 20th century Christian, Eric Metaxas presents in a detailed manner who was Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
I went through this book with delight, turning my aste for history and biography. On the other hand “Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy” isn’t easy to read, not necessarily because of the volume of pages or style used by the author. It is not easy to go if you’re not familiar with the structure that spans a detailed historical accounts, events and carries you through various compelx situations.
God has always had his witnesses in the darkest period of history when every nation.
Metaxas shows a Bonhoeffer – modern prophet, a voice that calls for closer to God and a life of holiness, amid a context call for hatred, revenge, pain.
In times of widespread armed conflict, the prospect of the sovereignty of God is easy to attack, people just do not doubt that God is still in control of the situation but also the fact that the Bible is the Word of God. Bonhoeffer was active against liberal theology, call for balance to understanding of God and his role in history, strongly believe that the Bible is the inspired God’s Word and inerrant.
The book presents the socio-political climate and the rise of Hitler, and introducing the reader enough detail to understand how it was possible Bonhoeffer’s involvement in an assassination attempt against the political leader of Nazi Germany, playing a double role of apparent supporter it.
Bonhoeffer is a compelling character and the perspective of the way let yet induced to think that you have in hand a book of adventures. Faith is an adventure – one of obedience and dependence by God regardless of social and political contexts.
